Engineering learners visit RAF Cosford

Year 12 JCB Academy Sixth Form engineering learners are visiting RAF Cosford today, a new partnership for The JCB Academy. The visit is part of unit 25, Mechanical Behaviour of Metallic Materials. The learners are looking at how they could improve failures in the design and materials used in three aircrafts based at the museum. The learners also get access to the Luftwaffe Dornier bomber which was raised from the sea after 75 years and isn’t normally available to the public. This unique access gives the learners a better understanding of why some parts corroded and others did not.
