F1 in Schools Challenge

Y12 learners at The JCB Academy Sixth Form are competing in the F1 in Schools Challenge. F1 in Schools is a global competition in which teams of learners deploy CAD/CAM software to collaborate, design, analyse, manufacture, test, and then race miniature compressed air powered cars made from a variety of materials using the most modern of manufacturing methods, such as 3D Printing. The challenge inspires learners to use IT/CAD/CAM to learn about physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacture, branding, graphics, sponsorship, marketing, leadership/teamwork, media skills and financial strategy, and apply them in a practical, imaginative, competitive and exciting way. Learners have the opportunity to design and build their cars during their after-school activity club.
