We were delighted to host our first Women into STEM and Leadership talks last week at The JCB Academy. It was fantastic to see so many young females with an interest in STEM and/or leadership.
We welcomed back two former learners, Sarah Ashraf and Charley Lee AIOSH. Sarah, a business degree apprentice at Rolls-Royce, is a young and ambitious individual who is making her mark in the world of STEM through her apprenticeship at Rolls-Royce. Charley, an Engineer Surveyor at Zurich Insurance, has extensive experience in the field of engineering and has made significant contributions to the industry through her work at various STEM companies.
On the night, we also had four head girls from The JCB Academy Sixth Form to join the guest speakers, with all six guests answering questions from the audience at the end of the talks.
A parent commented:
“Just wanted to say thank you for the very informative and inspiring event yesterday. Both of my daughters really enjoyed it. They were hugely inspired. At 13 years old, hearing these girls speak really made an impact. The women speakers did an amazing job and the sixth form students were so confident and articulate.”
Another parent commented:
“We just wanted to say Thank you for the STEM and Leadership evening at JCB Academy last night my daughter enjoyed being at the Academy, although she was a little tired after school, came away, inspired and motivated from listening to the guest speakers and pupils giving her the direction she wishes to go and I had none stop chatter all the way home as to what she would like to do as a career.”
